Bangor International Links
Learning Links International is pleased to be working with Bangor Rotary Club to support the development of a Rotary Community Corps in Bangor - called Bangor International Links.
This is a new initiative that is being supported by locally based 'Learning Links International' and local Rotary Clubs – bringing a group of local people and those from different countries around the world who now call Bangor home.
In June 2025 we started with a small working group to build friendships and trust as the group develops and starts bringing people together, planning to have some activities that we can promote to engage with others. We welcome the engagement and support of Bangor Rotarians as well.
The first opportunities have been held Monday evenings at Penrhyn Hall or Hwb Dinas Bangor, however we may move this to regular Tuesday workshops at Penrhyn Hall to get some things planned and / or we can meet on Zoom. We are meeting on Monday 14th on Zoom – let me know if you are interested.
“Bangor International Links” DRAFT June 2025
The initial aim is to promote and support links between our city’s communities, schools,
businesses, health bodies and parallel organisations in other countries around the world by:
1. providing a focus for links between folks living in Bangor and their respective heritage countries, as well as to recognise other international links and to assist in strengthening these eg to share feedback from visits and link activities
2. build friendships that develop understanding about the heritage countries with updates on activities through events both formal and informal in Penrhyn Hall and other venues, as well as through the good offices of our City and our Mayor
3. assisting with the development of international school links and the development of learning materials for schools and Coleg Menai
4. promoting inter-cultural interaction with multi-faith gatherings and celebration events, sharing creative arts, music and other activities
5. sharing information about funding and support possibilities
6. organising shared visits and outings eg getting a National Trust Well Being card
Bangor International Links will enhance community cohesion, mutual tolerance and understanding by supporting opportunities to learn more about each other’s communities, cultures, faiths, and heritage countries and may be registered as a Rotary Community Corps.
Bangor International Links will also provide a focus to recognise and celebrate the achievements
of organisations and individuals in developing and maintaining international links that benefit our City
and our communities.
